Autodesk has launched Arnold 7.2.3! This release brings interesting enhancements. Let's see what's new.
The new version supports Global Light Sampling on the GPU, which enables scenes with moderate to large numbers of lights to render 2-6x faster. In addition, the distance shader has been updated to include output parameters out_distance and out_direction, which return the direction and distance to the nearest surface, respectively. The shader still returns color-mapped results by default, but the out_rgb parameter can now be used.
